When a farmer grows Hybrid Rice such as Sona Masoori , the yield *per acre is approximately 30 to 35 bags* , the variation is also because of the soil fertility, the use of pesticides, geographical conditions,etc. But on the contrary When a farmer grows Desi Rice varieties , the yeild is generally *per acre is 20 to 25 bags, max to max 28 bags (very good condtions)* *A farmer who follows natural farming techniques need not spend money on external inputs such as fertilizers but the whole process of Natural farming is very labour intensive...which costs equally, sometimes a little more than the chemical farming in terms of Man power needed.* Growing Indigenious Grains and Lentils might many times result in Low Yield but the nutritional value of such yield is double when compared to Hybrid. *Many times we as consumers are confused and have this query, if the farmer is not using any chemicals ...
